FreezeHe put his hand on the side of her face. She did not move or tell him not to touch her but instead she froze. Confusion settled into his features.
"Why do you always freeze when I touch you?" She stayed silent. "You always freeze. You never tell me not to or have ever rebuked me but it feels like you want to. If you are trying to spare my feelings then don't. Now tell me. Why do you freeze?"
She looks away from his eyes. "I am afraid."
He looks hurt. "But why? I would never hurt-"
"I am afraid this is fleeting. I am afraid that one moment my world will be perfect with you and then it will collapse. That you will find someone better in whatever field you wish and I will be left alone trying to pick up all of the broken pieces. I do not want to find someone then have to be alone again. I freeze because I do not want to turn away something so grand but I am unsure if it is worth the risk. I freeze because I am afraid."
